Orthopedic Practice

Dr Hannes JonkerAbout Dr Jonker

Dr Hannes Jonker is a leading orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in knee, shoulder and sports surgery. In 2009 he completed a fellowship under Dr Mark Ferguson at the Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Rosebank, Johannesburg. As part of the fellowship he completed his advanced training in Europe and the USA.

Dr Jonker is passionate about science and sport and only uses the most advanced techniques to restore function to injured and degenerative shoulders and knees. He follows a personal and holistic approach which means that a treatment plan is designed for an individual’s specific needs according to all factors and life aspects that could influence recovery. Treatment ranges from the more conservative rehabilitation to less invasive treatments as well as reconstructive surgery. All services are provided to both the elite athlete and the mature patient.

Being a triathlete and Ironman 70.3 finisher himself, Dr Jonker always do his utmost to ensure a speedy recovery and return of patients to either the sports field or work environment and daily activities.

In 2016 the practice has expanded and two orthopaedic surgeons joined Dr Jonker’s practice. All four orthopaedic surgeons fulfil the complete spectrum of orthopaedic work when on call. The core of the practice’s business approach however, is that each surgeon practise his super-speciality. This is to the advantage of the patient, as a specialist is more readily available on request for consultation.  The two orthopaedic surgeons now also practising in Potchefstroom is Dr Deklerk Taute (super speciality: small joints) and Dr Kobus Marais (super speciality: back and spine).  This expansion resulted in the growth of personnel from two staff members to a personnel corps of five. Personnel are professional and experienced to provide high standard and quality services to patients. Natasja and Leonie manage appointments and enquiries. You will speak to Valerie about your account.  Louise is in charge of the patient reports and theatre bookings. Our personnel manager and nursing sister is Doreen who assists Drs Jonker, Taute and Marais in the treatment of patients, especially during the two week follow-up consultation after surgery.

We assure you of professional and friendly assistance when engaging with our practice and personnel.
